Reflection for 25/2/09

Today we did more discussion and a task was assigned to some people to conduct the survey.Since we found out from our teacher that at least 10 Questions is needed for our survey with a mixture of close and open questions.
We are currently planning on the design of our Survey Question Template.

Today we did more discussion and assigned a task to some people to conduct the survey.

Since we found out from our teacher that we needed at least 10 Questions for our survey with a mixture of close and open questions.

Here is the new edited Survey Questions:

We have chosen Aloysius Lim to conduct our survey for the 20 people which he would find.

We are currently planning on the design of our Survey Question Template.

Reflections for week/lesson 8 - 17 Feb 09

- On our powerpoint slides, we might be adding some videos. 

- We would be continuing our research on Earthquakes soon

- We received some new ideas on our end products, such as, Video Clip, Trails.
- We were also told to finish up on our surveys question and checklist by next Ipw Lesson.
- We are still thinking of our hypothesis and the direction we should work towards to.
- We are continuing to do our research on Tsunamis and Earthquakes.

Re-Make For Survey Questions

We have decided to remake our survey questions 

and find our hypothesis for our Topic as we find 

it difficult to come out with a End - Product without a suitable 

hypothesis to guide our Survey questions.

Today,

We received some new ideas on our end products, such as, Video Clip, Trails.

Survey Questions

1) Do you know what causes a tsunami?

week 4 reflection

We have currently chosen our main focus on Natural Disaster which are Tsunamis and Earthquakes since they are some how similar in their causes.We have also came out with some important guiding questions like :
1. What is a tsunami or an Earthquake?
2. How are they caused?
3. How often and where do they usually occur?
... and much more.

However we have not decided on how we would present about our project and what suitable resources we should get information from.

We have also found out that

1. A natural disaster is the consequence of a natural hazard which affects human activities
2. Tsunamis and earthquakes has quite a close relationship as most tsunamis (recorded by history) are caused by earthquakes.
3.A tsunami is a series of waves created when a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced.
4. Earthquakes that are above or below sea, volcanic eruptions and landslides can lead to potential tsunamis.
5. Pacific Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (PTWS) is a precaution of tsunamis.
6. The objective of the PTWS is to detect, locate and determine the magnitude of potential tsunami earthquakes occurring in the Pacific Basin or its immediate margins.
7. After PTWS confirmed a tsunami
-A tsunami warning is issued to warn of an imminent tsunami hazard
-The warning includes predicted tsunami arrival times at the selected coastal communities and distance the tsunami could travel in a few hours 
-The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio System then provides direct broadcast of tsunami information to the public.

Things that I have learnt...

b)The number of tunamis and earthquakes are increasing.

c) For the history, we would be adding videos on interviews too

d) That we are going to use Tsunamis and EarthQuakes as our main Research Topics.
e) That some countries use Pacific Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (PTWS) to detect Tsunamis.

- Needs to get willing people that takes time

- Some times not accurate as some people might anyhow write

- Shows a rough gauge on the situation

Facts :
There are many different type of surveys.
-Opinion Questions are those which people give their opinion on the Questions
-Yes or No Questions are those which asks people whether they agree of not.

Ideas:
We are going to ask Questions so we could find out more about what people thing.
Thus,we get more ideas to put into our Research..

Learning Issues:
I found out that we can use surveys to find out many things.

What i can do After the Survey:
We can compile the end product of the survey together and put it into our presentation.

Facts - what i know about surveys? 

Surveys are for gathering information about things and stuff you want to know. Sometimes, How can things be improved.

Ideas - what i think about surveys?

It is very useful for gathering others people's opinion, thoughts and feelings. Thus,we get more ideas to put into our Research..

Learning Issues:
